10 Years Living in Provence: Our Journey

In 2016, we followed our long-held dream of living in Provence, buying a little house, nestled in a small hamlet, in the heart of the Luberon, and setting out to make it our home. We always loved the beautiful, perched villages of the area and have been able to spend more time exploring and getting to know them better.

We have shopped at the local markets, each with its superb stalls, and unique atmosphere, and have found some firm favourites too. We’ve also pottered to places outside the Luberon valley, finding other areas to enjoy in Provence.

Over the years, we have renovated the house, changing it from empty, open spaces, into a comfortable and warm home. We have spent days at local brocante markets, vide greniers, and a nearby recycling centre, sourcing furniture and quirky pieces for the house, reworking and up-cycling some pieces to fit.

We have also got to grips with the bureaucracy that comes with living in France, from negotiating our way around the banking system, registering cars, and experiencing the French health system too. In fact, we have had more than our fair share of experience there now.

It’s been an amazing first 10 years here, and we look forward to adding more to our experiences of living in Provence. We hope you enjoy the experiences with us.
